There were 8 players crowding the top of the board this week that included a 7-way tie for second place. With that unprecedented logjam for second it was a surprise that one player would finish alone in the first place. Andy Garrod, Kevin Hill, John Spafford, Greg Swan, Mitch Frink, David Frink, and Rick Mosher were in the second-place tie with 6 correct answers. Clayton Frink emerged from that mass of players and won for the third time this season with 7 correct answers.
In the history of Over/Under I can’t remember another time when all the players got one question wrong. Nobody had Texas coming in at 3rd in the final CFP rankings. I certainly didn’t see that happening especially with Florida State finishing 13-0. Five players put Texas at 4th. Only 3 of the 15 players were correct in going under on 86.5 yards rushing for Ollie Gordon II and only 3 got a question wrong by going under on .5 interceptions for Quinn Ewers.
The average score was 5.4. Clayton takes home $40 for the win.
I’m still processing the magnitude of Texas qualifying for the 4-team playoff. I may not be the first one to comment that I think it adds to the achievement that Texas qualified in the last year of only four teams qualifying.
I’ll share more of my thoughts and analysis in a column to be published this Friday.
